Where stone has been bread
and many a chalice poison,
when Judas seemed host
and the tiniest guest mistreated,
how does Jesus reclaim the table
and serve not famine
but newly wondrous feast?
From the flour of distress
From the water of healing
How are we who sit bewildered
meant to make a new bread,
claim a new feast,
carve a trustworthy table ?
