If life is a voyage then this
tomb is a ship,
like Gallarus oratory in the west,
a stone boat sure on eternal seas.
Angels guard the one born on Michaelmas,
the feast of the great angel.
‘For time and eternity’ it says,
echoing your prayer,
A declaration for a lifetime,
a surrender of soul to the kairos of the spirit,
a mutual possession,
a mutual pledge,
a surrender to the waves of God.
God was praised in you,
Mercy made in you,
lives helped and healed by you,
the times informed and shaped by you.
God be praised for you
and mercy made in this time, and for eternity,
in the name and the spirit
you have left us.
For time and eternity.
